I specialize in Late Antiquity, especially in the Merovingian period. Since I enjoy finding new and unusual angles from which to address familiar topics, my research interests are wide. After working on early medieval monasticism, I developed new interests in the history of women and gender and in the history of emotions. Lately, I am focusing on sensory studies, trying to understand how Merovingian hagiographers transformed the late antique sensorium into a new sacred one, in order to create a new perception of the divine.
