Dr. Alissa Bellotti
Alissa Bellotti is a historian of contemporary Europe with a specialty in the social and cultural history of Germany. Her primary research interest is in the interactions between politics and new forms of identities, social values, and cultural phenomena, mostly in the 1970s and after. In her first project she analyzed the politics of international youth culture in East and West Germany during the late Cold War. In her second project, Alissa will examine transnational breast cancer activism in Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States with special attention paid to the impact advocacy groups have had on medical recommendations and research funding.
