The Department of General History
The purpose of studies at the Department of General History is to impart historical knowledge and understanding of historical processes. Studies in the department concern the political, social, economic, and cultural development of the peoples of Europe and America, and the legacies of Greece, Rome and Christian culture. Furthermore, the studies discuss their connections and contacts with other parts of the world.
As for the Master's Program, the purpose of the studies is to deepen the students' historical education and provide them with the tools necessary to engage in historical research. To this end, students specialize in one period (ancient, medieval, or modern period), or in a particular cross-subject that is not limited to a specific period, and they participate in integrative studies common to all periods.
